The Columbus Elementary School is committed to the education of the whole child. We place significant emphasis on the development of positive self-concept and respect for others.

We value individual differences, prize each child's uniqueness, and strive to instill in all children a sense of cooperation and concern for others. This commitment is evidenced through our continuing efforts to develop and deliver a challenging curriculum that teaches students how to learn, how to apply learning, how to become problem-solvers, and how to be creative and self-disciplined. We stress a variety of language experiences, scientific exploration, computational literacy, artistic creativity, and physical activity. Our efforts are based on the use of effective instruction through engaged participatory activity. We seek to develop in our students a sense of community and deepening responsibility to and for the world's people and places.

Our school is relaxed and friendly. Although the styles of teaching vary, we recognize and respect different learning styles and are united in our commitment to reach each child.
